Haworth sales down 19% amid coronavirus pandemic

HOLLAND, MI — Furniture manufacturer Haworth reported global sales of $1.81 billion in 2020, a 19% drop from the previous year.

Despite the loss, the Holland-based company says its performance was “better than expected.” It credited efforts to diversify its product offerings.

“Haworth responded to the events of 2020 by leveraging our differentiation and global reach,” President and CEO Franco Bianchi said in a statement.

 

Haworth shuts down North Carolina furniture plant in consolidation effort

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Office furniture giant Haworth – number 7 on the FDMC 300 – has closed one of its furniture manufacturing facilies in North Carolina. The closure is part of a consolidation effort.
“This decision was motivated by the strategic intent of consolidating our North Carolina operational footprint and was accelerated by current economic conditions,” the company said in a written statement. “The High Point facility and employees have a rich history of manufacturing Haworth furniture and we are grateful for their contributions.”

Haworth CFO retiring; successor named

The chief financial officer at Haworth is retiring after 15 years of leadership and will be replaced by a longtime colleague.

The Holland-based furniture manufacturer said Wednesday that John Mooney is retiring in December and will be succeeded by Scott Poulton, a 21-year Haworth veteran.

Over the remaining months of 2020, worldwide office furniture manufacturer Haworth Inc. will undergo a major transition within its financial leadership team.

Chief Financial Officer John Mooney announced over the summer that he would be retiring at the end of the year. Haworth recently announced that it appointed Scott Poulton to succeed Mooney as CFO.

Haworth acquires Italian furniture maker, adds to Lifestyle Design Group

HOLLAND — Office furniture maker Haworth Inc. has finalized a deal that added yet another high-profile name to its portfolio of international brands.

Through Haworth’s Italy-based Poltrona Frau Group, the Holland-based company said that it acquired Luxury Living Group, an Italian furniture maker and interior design company that produces and distributes high-end furniture in Italy, working under licensing agreements with such brands as Fendi Casa, Bentley Home and Bugatti Home.
