Steelcase says bogus job listings were posted

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A West Michigan-based furniture company says scammers had impersonated them and posted deceptive job postings on multiple websites.

Steelcase said on Twitter that in some cases, fraudulent job opportunities were offered to obtain money and personal information from people interested in becoming an employee.

HNI Corp report 1st quarter sales down 5.1%

HNI Monday announced sales for the first quarter ended March 30, 2019 of $479.5 million and net income of $1.0 million. GAAP net income per diluted share was $0.02 compared to $0.06 in the prior year.

Non-GAAP net income per diluted share was $0.02 compared to $0.10 in the prior year. “Our first quarter results were as expected. As anticipated, demand conditions generally improved throughout the quarter after a slow start. We were able to offset much of the impact from lower volume with cost savings and productivity. We are pleased with the progress on our initiatives and continue to believe our demand and profit results will improve throughout the year,” said Jeff Lorenger, HNI Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer.

Steelcase Reports Fourth Quarter and Fiscal 2019 Results

Steelcase Inc. (NYSE: SCS) today reported fourth quarter revenue of $912.4 million and net income of $22.6 million, or diluted earnings of $0.19 per share, which included $16.9 million of charges related to the early retirement of debt.  Excluding these charges, net of related income tax effects, adjusted earnings were $0.29 per share.  In the prior year, Steelcase reported $772.7 million of revenue, breakeven net income and adjusted earnings per share of $0.24.  Prior year results also included non-operating gains related to an investment in an unconsolidated affiliate which increased earnings by approximately $0.05 per share.

BIFMA Updates Standard for Office Storage Units – BIFMA X5.9

On February 7, 2019, the Business Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA) released a new version of its storage unit standard – BIFMA X5.9. The updated version replaces the previous 2012 version and is approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

BIFMA X5.9 provides a common basis for evaluating the safety, durability and structural performance of storage units used in offices. It defines specific tests, laboratory equipment, conditions of test, and recommends minimum levels to be used in testing. It also defines how performance, durability, and structural adequacy should be evaluated.
