Newport-based furniture manufacturer Bisley has made a significant investment in MARK Product, a sustainably-led furniture brand based in Cornwall.

MARK, which stands for Made And Realised in Kernow – ‘Cornwall’ in the Cornish language – is led by designers and founders Anna Hart and John Miller, and the brand has become a favourite among specialised high-end and sustainable office furniture project providers.

Newport-based office furniture designer and manufacturer Bisley has signed two deals in the telecommunications and banking sectors.

The partnerships with BT Group and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) follow on from Bisley revealing that it is designing bespoke spaces within the Googleplex headquarters in California.

TURNOVER AND PROFITS UP AT OFFICE FURNITURE FIRM

The chief executive of an office furniture designer and manufacturer, which converted into an Employee Ownership Trust in December, has hailed a year in which turnover and profits rose, as it looks to further expand its presence.

For the year ended 31 July 2022, turnover at Bisley increased by 15.9 per cent from £67.4m to £78.1m.

Operating profits rose to £2.8m compared to £300,000 in 2021, which the business said was as a result of “continued focus on margins and further drives to reduce overheads”.

BISLEY CHOOSES NEW NORTHERN SHOWROOM

Office furniture designer and manufacturer Bisley has chosen Manchester as the home for its new Northern showroom.

The showroom will launch this summer in Calico on Mosley Street.

Bisley has been described as a “great addition” to the city and Calico where they have leased 2,906 sq ft of workspace within The Duplex. Bisley’s new Northern showroom will be its eighth and will promote the firm’s expanding portfolio of products and support its growing customer base in the North of England.

Tony Brown remembered for Bisley success

TONY Brown, the chairman and owner of home office and workplace furniture manufacturer Bisley, has died at the age of 86.

Bisley’s website paid tribute to Mr Brown as “a remarkable person of great integrity, who built the hugely successful manufacturing businesses on a foundation of hard work and investment, coupled with enormous respect and care for the some 1,000 people he ultimately employed

Bisley founder passes away

It is with great sadness that Bisley announces the passing of its Chairman and owner Anthony ‘Tony’ Brown, aged 86, on 4 April.

Tony began working at Bisley in 1960 and acquired the company from his father in 1970. At the time, the business had 45 staff members and annual sales of £370,000 ($400,000). Today, it generates annual revenue of around £70 million and exports its products to more than 75 countries.

Google taps UK firm to build furniture for its California headquarters

Bisley, a Wales-based office furniture manufacturer, signed a contract with Google to develop bespoke workspaces for the Googleplex headquarters in California.

The Welsh firm will supply custom-made furniture to the tech giant’s campus in Mountain View as part of the project which is in the consultation phase, according to Business Live.
