HNI Corporation Reports Earnings for Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2023

MUSCATINE, Iowa, February 22, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–HNI Corporation (NYSE: HNI) today announced sales of $2.434 billion and net income of $49.2 million for the full year ended December 30, 2023. GAAP net income per diluted share was $1.09, compared to $2.94 in the prior year. Non-GAAP net income per diluted share was $2.65, compared to $2.20 in the prior year. GAAP to non-GAAP reconciliations follow the financial statements in this release.

Steelcase among the top 5% of firms in latest climate disclosure

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Office and contract furniture giant Steelcase has received high marks for its sustainability efforts from the world’s leading environmental disclosure platform.

The organization earned a top score of A- from CDP, previously known as the Climate Disclosure Project, for its commitment to environmental strategy and action. Steelcase is the only firm in its industry to earn this top distinction, which only 5% of the some 23,000 companies surveyed in 2023 achieved.

Haworth continues growth streak amid office uncertainty: ‘Change is good for us’

Higher revenues in 2023 extended Haworth Inc.’s growth streak to four straight years following a steep industry decline in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The Holland-based Haworth today reported $2.57 billion in sales for 2023, a 3% increase over 2022. The results for last year also raised Haworth to 16% sales growth since 2019, before the pandemic.

CHICAGO – Just a few weeks after it was acquired, used-office-furniture marketplace FurnitureFinders has been accepted as a member of 1% for the Planet, a global environmental network.

FurnitureFinders was acquired late January by Wurkwel Ventures, a private investment firm focused on the corporate office space. In the announcement, Wurkwel detailed its plans to make the company more environmentally friendly, with plans to introduce “planet first” best practices.

St. Thomas student hits $1M in sales with refurbished furniture company that emphasizes sustainability

The summer before his junior year of high school, John Costello was looking through the “free” section of Craigslist when he stumbled upon a used set of office cubicles. For Costello, now a junior at the University of St. Thomas, those free cubicles would become first sale for his company, West Metro Solutions, which celebrated $1 million in sales in September.

West Metro Solutions is an environmentally conscious office furniture company that refurbishes and resells used office furniture across the U.S., keeping it out of the landfill, said Costello, who is studying entrepreneurship and finance at St. Thomas.

Office furniture manufacturer shuts down ‘unrecoverable’ brand

ITASCA, Ill. – A producer of workplace furnishings will shut down one of its segments and manufacturing plants this year.

The Illinois-based Fellowes Brands announced changes last week to its contract furniture division, formerly known as Trendway, which it acquired in 2019. Among the changes will be the closure of the Trendway production facility in Michigan later this year and the discontinuation of a portion of its furniture product offering, including systems, case goods, filing, storage and tables. Fellowes will continue to accept orders of these discontinued products until June and ship orders through July 2024.
