A veteran of the contract office furniture industry, Binnendyk has served in a number of senior leadership roles over the past 22 years at Allseating Corp., most recently as president.

Ford has produced his first piece of furniture with Herman Miller, a modified version of the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman (ELO) that was originally launched in 1956 by Charles and Ray Eames. For Ford’s remix, he has handwritten the names of victims of racism in the United States as a tribute to those who lost their lives to racial injustice.

BIFMA Introduces New ANSI Occasional-Use Seating Standard

THE AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARDS INSTITUTE (ANSI) has approved the new safety and performance standard: ANSI/BIFMA X6.4-2021, Occasional-Use Seating.

The BIFMA Subcommittee for Seating Standards worked diligently for the past three years to intro- duce this new ANSI standard. The Subcommittee began work in 2017 and provided guidance for the 2018 publication of BIFMAX6.4-2018 Occasional-Use Seating. Demand for this standard increased in 2020 with the influx of work at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the Association sponsored development of X6.4 to become an American National Standard.
