Scores of jobs in jeopardy with likely closure of Godfrey Syrett factory

The North East’s manufacturing sector has been delivered a blow as it emerged scores of jobs are in jeopardy at County Durham furniture manufacturer Godfrey Syrett.

Directors have told staff of plans to close the company’s factory at Langley Moor, Durham, in a move which will affect around 60 workers.

In a statement the management of the business – which also has sites in Killingworth and Belmont – said it was proposing to close the Durham factory to make sure the business as a whole can survive.

$608.25 Million in Sales Expected for HNI Corp (HNI) This Quarter

Wall Street brokerages forecast that HNI Corp (NYSE:HNI) will announce sales of $608.25 million for the current quarter, according to Zacks. Two analysts have provided estimates for HNI’s earnings. The lowest sales estimate is $607.00 million and the highest is $609.50 million. HNI reported sales of $584.28 million in the same quarter last year, which would suggest a positive year-over-year growth rate of 4.1%. The company is scheduled to report its next quarterly earnings report on Thursday, February 14th.

Steelcase and West Elm rolling out collection under partnership

Steelcase and West Elm are producing their first joint product collection since signing a partnership this summer.

The Grand Rapids-based furniture maker and Brooklyn, New York-based home furnishings brand said they will roll out the West Elm Work Collection — a portfolio of “co-developed products inspired by residential design and manufactured to withstand the wear and tear of the office.”

UK splashes out £700K on furniture for Brexit office

LONDON — The U.K. government has decked out an office in the north of England that will act as a hub for hundreds of officials required to cope with Brexit — at a cost of more than £700,000.

According to a government contract, delivery of 700 office chairs, 700 desks and 1,000 lockers for new staff will begin next week at an office in Leeds spread over three floors.

Marco acquires Phillips Office Solutions

In a bid to reach the East Coast, a fast-growing technology services provider from Minnesota has acquired Central Pennsylvania’s top office-equipment dealer.

St. Cloud-based Marco said Tuesday it has purchased Phillips Office Solutions, based in Lower Swatara Township, for an undisclosed sum. The deal closed on Monday.
